New Delhi, September 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday removed its Mehrauli district president, Azad Singh for allegedly slapping his wife Sarita Chaudhary, former South Delhi mayor at party's Delhi office. Singh allegedly assaulted his wife, an ex-South Delhi mayor, at the party's Delhi office, right after a poll-preparedness meeting with senior leader Prakash Javadekar, sources said. Reportedly, both are involved in marital discord and Singh has filed for divorce from his wife. There is a video of this act going viral on social media. Post the incident came to the limelight, Singh was removed from the post of Mehrauli district president and a committee was formed to probe the incident on the direction of Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari.

A Delhi Police officer quoted in an agency report said, "We have not received any complaint from anyone involved in the said incident. Appropriate action will be taken if a complaint is given to us."

Politicians misbehaving in public is now new, earlier this month, former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah stoked a major controversy after he lost his cool outside Mysuru Airport and slapped one of his party workers. He was earlier as well caught for his high handedness and misbehaving with people around him.

In January this year, Siddaramaiah's unruly behaviour came to the light, when he engaged in a wordy duel with a woman and snatched the microphone from her, dislodging her dupatta in the process at an event in Varuna in Mysuru.
