The accused, identified as Keshav Bansal, a BTech graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from East Punjabi Bagh, was apprehended by the Cyber Police Station in North Delhi. Investigators revealed that Bansal sourced photos from the victim's private social media account and used AI-based image editing tools to generate explicit content.
The matter came to light after the 22-year-old victim filed a formal complaint. She reported receiving messages from anonymous social media accounts informing her that sexually explicit photos and videos featuring her face were being distributed across Discord servers. The victim also alleged receiving threatening and harassing messages alongside posts on fake Instagram accounts created to humiliate her. To avoid detection, Bansal operated a complex digital footprint involving multiple fake accounts across Instagram, Facebook, and Discord, supported by several Gmail addresses. A technical investigation tracing digital evidence, email connections, and IP logs eventually linked the fake profiles directly to Bansal.
During interrogation, Bansal confessed to creating and distributing the initial images, citing personal resentment stemming from previous college disputes with the victim. Police stated that after Bansal initially posted the morphed images on public Discord channels, other anonymous users generated even more explicit versions, which Bansal then re-shared. Law enforcement officers recovered a mobile phone, two SIM cards, and additional digital evidence during the arrest. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify other online users involved in creating and spreading the explicit AI material.
