Cyber police and local law enforcement in Thrikkakara formally recorded the arrest of a second-year BBA Logistics student on Friday for allegedly morphing photographs and videos of female students and teachers into obscene content and sharing them online.

The accused, identified as Sreehari S., a student at Bharata Mata College, was taken into police custody following a complaint filed by the college management. Authorities stated that the suspect allegedly used artificial intelligence tools and image-editing software to manipulate photos collected from various campus events and personal social media profiles, subsequently circulating the altered media across channels on Telegram and Instagram. AI Photos, Fake Identity: Man Falsely Claims to Be Chitra Tripathi’s Relative, Uses Morphed Pics to Trap Women Into Marriage.

According to police officials, the matter came to light after a former student alerted a faculty member about the explicit content circulating online. Following an internal investigation, the college administration expelled the student, confiscated his mobile phone, and handed the device over to law enforcement for forensic analysis.

The suspect has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The charges include insulting the modesty of women, publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form, and indecent communication.

The incident sparked protests on campus, with students demonstrating outside the principal's office. Protesters alleged procedural lapses by the administration, claiming the suspect was initially allowed to leave campus with a local guardian and alleging that additional individuals involved in creating or distributing the content have yet to be identified. Girish Mahajan Viral Photo: Maharashtra Minister Says Morphed Pics Being Circulated; Files Complaint.

College authorities have refuted claims of protecting any individuals, emphasizing that they acted swiftly by expelling the accused and filing an official police complaint.
