New Delhi, November 10: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Friday rescued a 95-year-old woman, who was allegedly held captive by her daughter-in-law in North-west Delhi. The incident came to light after the woman's son called up the DCW asking for help saying his old mother was held captive and tortured by his wife and in-laws. Reports further informed that the complainant said his mother's health condition was not good and she was completely bed-ridden.

The man informed the DCW that he and his wife were having issues in their marriage ever since they got married. The man claimed that he has not seen his mother for the last three months. Describing his ordeal, the man mentioned that whenever he tries to meet his mother, he is forced to take help from the local police as his wife does not let him enter the house. He said he got hopeful when he read in the news that the DCW had rescued a 50-year-old woman held captive by her brother for two years. According to a report by ANI, the DCW team went to the location where the old woman was kept but his wife initially didn't let the team enter the house. However, after counselling, the team was allowed to enter the house.

The women gave them the entry on the condition that her husband should give a written statement that after taking his mother from home he would never return to the house again. The man, however, agreed to the terms and gave the statement in writing. Delhi Shocker: Two Killed After Car Runs Over Them on Footpath Near Rajouri Garden, Accused Arrested.

On entering the house, the DCW team was shocked to see the condition in which the old woman was kept. His mother looked very ill and was covered with only a thin piece of cloth. Reports inform that the old woman had to relieve herself in a bucket placed near the bed.

Seeing her poor and ailing condition, the DCW team immediately called for an ambulance and took the woman to the hospital. The doctor informed that she has a severe infection and needs to be treated immediately. Reports inform that the woman is still undergoing a treatment in the hospital and her son is looking after her.
