Mumbai, September 15: The Dombivli road overbridge (ROB) on the Kopar rail will be closed for vehicular and traffic movement from Sunday evening. The decision was taken by the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) as the ROB was declared unsafe in June by a team of experts of IIT-Bombay. The closure of the bridge will cause long jams near Joshi School and Phadke Road. Patripul Bridge in Kalyan Shut As Dismantling Begins; Here’s the List of Bridges in Mumbai That Have Been Shut for Repairs.

In July, the Dombivli ROB was temporarily shut for heavy vehicles. However, heavy vehicles were stopped completely from plying on the bridge from August 21. The regular commuters will now have to use Thakurli ROB, which is almost 1.5 km away. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the KDMC has appointed a consultant for the repair work on the bridge. Authorities have not set any deadline for the completion of the renovation work of the bridge.
