Faridabad: Speeding SUV Kills 2 Brothers, Injures Two Sisters on Raksha Bandhan
A hit-and-run incident on Saturday morning left two brothers dead and their two sisters injured after a speeding Toyota Fortuner crashed into them along the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. The victims, who were waiting for a bus to travel to Faridabad to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, were thrown several feet by the force of the collision.

Two Brothers Killed in Collision
The victims were identified as Akhilesh Maurya and his younger brother Avadhesh Maurya, residents of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. They were taken to BK Civil Hospital in Faridabad after the collision, where doctors declared them dead. Their sisters, Saroj and Rajkumari, were injured in the crash and referred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi. Police said one of the sisters was in critical condition. According to police, the impact of the collision threw the victims several feet away from the roadside.
Siblings Were Travelling for Raksha Bandhan
The four siblings were on their way to Faridabad for Raksha Bandhan celebrations. According to a complaint filed by their relative Nanhe, the two brothers lived in Chhota Bans, Bhati Khurd, Delhi, and worked at a farmhouse. Driver Fled After Accident
The driver of the Fortuner fled the scene following the collision, prompting police to begin efforts to trace the vehicle and identify the person behind the wheel. During the investigation, police recovered the vehicle's number plate. CCTV footage from cameras installed near the accident site is also being examined to establish the sequence of events and identify the driver.
Case Registered, Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to rash driving and causing death by negligence. Investigators are using the recovered number plate and CCTV footage to trace the vehicle's owner and driver. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues. The accident has raised fresh concerns over speeding and road safety on the Gurgaon-Faridabad corridor, particularly during a major festival when traffic movement increases.
