In a video message posted this morning, Dipke described the moment as a "new dawn," summing up the 37 days of protest as "really, really difficult" while admitting there was finally space to breathe.
"I could go to sleep and wake up in my bedroom without thinking about what to do next or what will happen till evening," Dipke said, sounding relaxed as he reflected on the end of the agitation. "There is no panic," he added.
CJP Says This Is 'Just The Beginning'
Despite the resignation and the government's concessions, Dipke made it clear that the movement does not intend to stop here. He reminded his followers that this is "just the beginning," adding, "The Cockroach Janata Party has a long way to go." How The Protest Began
Dipke founded the CJP in May as a satirical response to a remark by the Chief Justice of India, but the movement soon escalated into a nationwide push that united the country's Gen Z over the next 70-odd days. Thousands of supporters, who referred to themselves as 'cockroaches,' took over the heart of the capital, with chants of 'inquilab' filling the air at Jantar Mantar, an iconic protest site overlooking India's power corridor. Students and young protesters held Pradhan responsible for the NEET paper leak and the suicide of aspirants, and pressed for his resignation. Delays in government action only drew more supporters by the minute.
Pradhan resigned on Saturday, the government promised no action against the protesters, and the CJP withdrew its agitation with immediate effect.
Dipke Thanks Supporters, Apologises For Missing Jantar Mantar
Recalling the difficulty of the protest, Dipke thanked those who supported the CJP despite many casting doubts along the way. Down with typhoid and running a temperature, he apologised for not being able to thank everyone in person at Jantar Mantar the previous day.
"All the people who were waiting for Jantar Mantar for 37 days, I want to thank each and every one of you. And I want to tell you that I really, really, really appreciate what you did for this country," he said in the video.
He also had words of gratitude for his critics, saying their questions helped him improve. "I think that's why we were able to deliver as well," he added.
