New Delhi, October 2: To pay tribute to the father of the nation, National Carrier Air India has painted Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or Mahatma Gandhi's image on an Airbus A320 aircraft. The 11 ft x 4.9 ft image is depicted on the tail of the plane. The Indian Railways is also celebrating Gandhiji's 150th birth anniversary by painting its diesel locomotives with Gandhi's photo on the backdrop of the national flag. In total, 22 locomotives have been painted.

Known for his role in the Indian Freedom Struggle, Gandhiji was a torchbearer of cleanliness.
