Former BJP MLA Nalin Kotadiya, who is also one of the main accused in the multi-crore bitcoin case, has been arrested from Dhuliya in Maharashtra by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch on Sunday noon.

According to media reports, former MLA Kotadiya is being taken to Ahmedabad by the Crime Branch.

Kotadiya was named as an accused in the kidnapping of Surat businessman Shailesh Bhatt and extorting bitcoins worth Rs 12 crore from him.

A senior police official was quoted saying by the Times of India that Kotadiya is named as an accused in the case along with the then Amreli SP Jagdish Patel and Amreli LCB PJ Anant Patel.

The two are accused in the case along with nine other persons. Kotadiya was declared as an absconder in the case while others have been arrested by the Gujarat CID.

In April, another Bitcoin scam mastermind, Amit Bhardwaj was arrested by the Pune Police at the Delhi Airport. Bhardwaj, a former Infosys employee, allegedly duped thousands of Indian investors by hatching Bitcoin-based Ponzi schemes.
