Gujarat Building Collapse: Two Dead After Building Collapses in Chhani Jakatnaka Area of Vadodara

Ahmedabad, October 20: In a tragic incident, two people were killed and several others were injured after a building collapsed in Gujarat on Saturday night. According to a tweet by ANI, the building collapsed in Chhani Jakatnaka area of Vadodara. Reports inform that the incident took place while the work to demolish the building was underway on Saturday. As soon as the incident was reported, Police rushed to the spot to take a stock of the situation.

When the building collapsed on Saturday, several labourers were feared trapped in the debris. According to details by fire officer Om Jadeja, 10 workers were involved in the demolition work. Out of the 10 people, five managed to save themselves. "10 people were involved in demolition work, 5 of them managed to save themselves; 2 casualties reported. Rescue operation on", Jadeja said.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara Sudhir Patel was quoted by ANI saying that it was an old building which belonged to L&T company. "The company was demolishing the building on its own. During the demolition, the front part of the building suddenly collapsed", he added.

In August, four people were killed and several were injured after 3-storey apartment building collapsed in Pragatinagar in Nadiad city in Kheda district. Reports inform that rescue operations are currently underway. Several are believed to be feared trapped.
