Morbi, August 10: At least eight people were killed and several others were reportedly injured after a compound wall collapsed in Gujarat on Saturday. According to a tweet by news agency ANI, the incident took place near Umiya Circle, Kandla Bypass in Morbi. Reports inform that rescue operations are currently underway. The visuals from the incident spot of the compound wall collapse were shared by ANI, which also posted pictures of the rescue operations. A JCB can be seen at the incident spot, while locals are also present.

On Friday night, four people were killed and many others were injured after a 3-storey apartment building collapsed in Pragatinagar in Kheda district's Nadiad city. At the time of the incident, nine people were present in the building.

Heavy rainfall in Gujarat has impacted the lives of people. Several low-lying villages have been flooded. So far the state has received 61.55 per cent of the annual rainfall, official data shows that several parts of Gujarat are reeling under flood-like situation due to incessant rains. As per reports, over 21,000 people have been shifted to safer places over the last few days.
