The unusual phenomenon was first noticed on August 2 by farm owner Pranjivan Sadariya when he arrived at his property. While the turbulence paused briefly, it resumed and persisted over several days. Videos of the sloshing water quickly circulated on social media, prompting large crowds of onlookers and passersby to gather at the site.
Expert Analysis and Administrative Action
Initial concerns among locals pointed toward possible seismic activity or underground tectonic shifts. However, district officials and geological experts have ruled out any earthquake-related cause. District Geologist J.S. Vadher explained that the disturbance is likely linked to heavy upstream rainfall and subsequent groundwater recharging. "This is not a seismic activity. Prima facie, it appears that following heavy upstream rainfall, groundwater is recharging and air trapped in the pore spaces of rocks is being released, causing the disturbance in the well," Vadher stated, reports PTI.

Morbi District Collector Swapnil Khare confirmed that the state government has been briefed on the incident. To determine the precise cause, the administration has deployed a specialised team from the Ground Water Research Institute (GWRI) to examine the local soil and strata conditions. Officials reiterated that a final technical report from the GWRI will establish the exact scientific reason behind the continuous water oscillation.
