Upon his arrival, local residents confronted him over what they described as two years of abysmal mobile network coverage. According to villagers, the installation of the private mobile tower two years ago had initially raised hopes of resolving communication hurdles, but poor network signals continued to disrupt phone calls, internet access, and digital transactions. Residents complained that they were forced to pay expensive mobile recharge fees while receiving substandard service.
Captivity and Police Intervention
During the heated arguments, locals took matters into their own hands and tied the technician to the base of the mobile structure. However, local sources also noted that amidst mounting pressure, the technician himself suggested the tactic so that their grievances would catch the attention of higher-level management at the telecom company.
A video of the captivity quickly circulated across social media platforms, alerting law enforcement. Emergency police personnel dispatched via the 112 helpline arrived at the scene, rescued the technician, and brought him safely to the police station. Based on a formal complaint filed by Adityabhan Singh, an FIR has been registered under Section 127(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown villagers at the Bindiki police station, as investigations continue.
