When she didn't return, her father, Ramsagar Pandey, filed a police complaint. During questioning, Manikant confessed to the crime and revealed he had disposed of her body in an under-construction building and thrown her cellphone onto a moving bus to mislead the authorities. The body has been recovered and sent for a post-mortem.
