Shopian, September 30: A policeman was killed in a terrorist attack on a police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday. Terrorist hurled a grenade and opened fire at the police station. The security forces also retaliated and foiled the attack. The policeman was injured in the attack, but later he succumbed to injuries.

On September 27, security forces gunned down a terrorist in an encounter that broke out in Dooru Shahbad Area of Anantnag district. Meanwhile, on September 25, Indian Army's Lance Naik Sandeep Singh was martyred during an anti-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.

Singh was part of the team that carried out surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 2016. The martyred jawan is survived by his wife and a 5-year-old son. On Monday, the Army foiled a major attempt by terrorists to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir. Till Now close to 180 terrorists have been killed by the security forces in the Kashmir Valley, while nearly 70 security personnel have lost their lives.
