Baramulla, September 13: At least two terrorists have been gunned down by the security forces on Wednesday in Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. According to reports, acting on the information of the presence of terrorists in the area, the security forces launched a search operation. The operation was carried out by the joint team of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the state polices Special Operations Group (SOG and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The entire area has been cordoned off. More details are still awaited.

Internet services in the area have been suspended and educational institutes are remained closed for the day. Another encounter is underway in Jammu’s Kakriyal as security personnel conducted a search operation for terrorists in the area. Gunshots were heard in the area. One CRPF personnel is reported to have been injured in the encounter. In the morning, the army has apprehended a Pakistani national who had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.

Similarly, on September 11, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Kupwara district. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Galoora area of Handwara, in the north Kashmir district, following specific information about the presence of terrorists there. The terrorists were identified as Furqan Rashid Lone alias Adil and Liyaqat Ahmad Lone alias Sahaba alias Umar Khalid.
