Jammu, October 13: The security forces gunned down one Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist on Saturday morning during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a tweet by ANI, the encounter between the security forces and militants took place in Kangan area of Pulwama district in the early morning hours. The incident comes on the same day when the state went to poll for the third phase of urban local body elections 2018. 

Earlier on Saturday morning, a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district after inputs of the presence of militants in the area. The slain militant has been identified as Sabir Ahmad Dar who belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit. According to a PTI report, some arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.

According to details by Police, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Babgund area of the south Kashmir district during the night. Police informed that the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the forces who then retaliated.

Earlier on Thursday, two terrorists were gunned down by security forces, one of which was identified as Hizbul Mujahideen’s top commander Manan Wani. The Jammu and Kashmir police informed that the other terrorist too was a Hizbul operative and identified as Ashiq Hussain Zargar, a resident of Tulwari Langate.
