New Delhi, July 6: A day after the inquiry panel of the Jawaharlal Nehru University upheld his rustication, Umar Khalid has released a statement hitting out at the administration, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the media. Khalid has called the inquiry panel 'farcical', adding that he, Kanhaiya Kumar and others were being "targeted in a systematic manner".

Khalid has said that this was the third time that he was being rusticated by the JNU administration, "which was working on the orders of the RSS and BJP", and he will once again move court like the previous two times, adding, "Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost (The story is yet to end, my friend)."

Khalid also hit out at the Narendra Modi government, saying that the order of the inquiry panel "purportedly" came out just two weeks before the date of submission of their research "which is shameful and rabidly vindictive."
