Bengaluru, January 21: An FIR has been filed by the wife of Congress MLA Anand Singh against his party colleague and legislator J N Ganesh, who allegedly assaulted him. The "fight" erupted at the Eagleton Resort, located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where the Congress has flocked its legislators since Friday fearing horse-trading by the BJP.

Laxmi Singh, the wife of the brutalised MLA from Bellary region, had threatened to take legal action last night -- after reports emerged that Singh was beaten up inside the resort by JN Ganesh and Bheema Naik -- considered close to senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar.

"If it is true that Ganesh beat up my husband, my children and I will not keep quiet and will take legal action against him," Laxmi had said.

Asked by reporters if she has been informed that Ganesh provoked Singh, Laxmi said, "I do not know whether Ganesh provoked my husband, but can anybody try to kill somebody for provocation? Is it right?"

Laxmi further claimed that her husband and Ganesh shared a good relationship prior to the events which erupted at the resort.

"They are good friends. Yes, my husband told me that in the last Congress Legislature Party meeting, there was a heated exchange with (legislator) Bheema Naik. Other than that he did not tell me anything," she was quoted as saying.

According to a Congress insider, Singh and Ganesh entered into an argument after accusing each other of leading the dissident camp -- which was in touch with the BJP in their alleged bid to topple the HD Kumaraswamy-led JD(S)-Congress government.
