Karnataka Gang Rape Case: 3 Arrested for Assaulting, Extorting West Bengal Woman

Mysuru district police have arrested three men in connection with the alleged gang-rape and extortion of a woman from West Bengal at a hotel in Chamarajanagar district. The accused-identified by police as Rihan, Kiran, and Kishore, all residents of T. Narasipura-were taken into custody after the survivor filed an official complaint. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the complaint, the three men picked up the woman in a car from a village in T. Narasipura and drove her to a lodge in Kollegala, located in neighboring Chamarajanagar. She alleged that the men sexually assaulted her in a hotel room, recorded a video on her phone, and demanded ₹1 lakh from her. The survivor reported that she managed to escape by promising to retrieve the requested money from her home. Upon reaching her residence, she locked herself inside and alerted neighbors, who subsequently informed the local authorities. Police officials confirmed that the woman has been moved to a rehabilitation facility, where she is receiving counseling and support while investigators complete her identity verification process. While the incident allegedly took place within Chamarajanagar police limits, Mysuru police registered the initial complaint because the woman was picked up from their jurisdiction.
