According to preliminary reports from local police, seven occupants died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries shortly after being transported to a nearby medical facility.
The impact left the Madurai-registered vehicle completely crushed under the rear of the parked truck. Local residents, emergency response units, and personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations. Although official verification of all deceased individuals is ongoing, law enforcement officers recovered identity documents from the site linking the victims to an engineering college in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Initial findings indicate the youths were on a weekend trip to Kerala. The bodies have been transferred to the mortuary at Thrissur Medical College Hospital for inquest and post-mortem procedures.

The Kaipamangalam police have registered a case and initiated a investigation to determine the exact sequence of events, including whether overspeeding contributed to the collision. Officials from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) and police forensic teams are scheduled to inspect the crash site and analyze nearby CCTV footage as part of the inquiry.
