KFC Customer Finds Insect in Fried Chicken at Greater Noida’s Gaur City Mall; Restaurant Apologises (Videos)

A customer has claimed he found an insect inside a deep-fried chicken order from a KFC outlet at Gaur City Mall in Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh. The customer posted videos of the alleged insect on X and tagged KFC India as well as Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner IAS Tukaram Mundhe, asking authorities to look into the matter. KFC India subsequently apologised and asked for the order details to investigate the complaint.

The customer said he placed the order at around 2:30 pm on September 5 and described the incident as “Horrible”. He later shared the order number as 6353. Customer Shares Insect Video

The social media user posted videos of the alleged insect in the chicken, tagging KFC India and describing the incident as “Horrible”. He said the order was placed at around 2:30 pm at the outlet and called the incident unacceptable.

In a subsequent post, he also shared the order details, stating that the order number was 6353. “Horrible @KFC_India ...just got insect inside your deep fried chicken.. seriously not acceptable at all .. location - gaur City mall , Greater Noida West, uttar pradesh. Time : 2:30pm, 5 Sept 3026,” the post read. The claim has not, however, been independently established through a food-safety inspection or laboratory finding. KFC Responds To Complaint

Responding to the complaint, KFC India apologised for the experience and asked the user to share the order ID so that its team could contact him and address the concern. “Hi, our apologies for the disappointment caused. Please drop in your order ID so our team can contact you to address your concern,” it said on X.

The response came after the customer publicly tagged the company and requested attention to the alleged food-safety issue. There was no reported confirmation from KFC India that an insect was found in the food at the time of the latest reports.

Complaint Comes Amid Fresh Food Safety Drive

The complaint comes days after Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe announced a year-round standing order aimed at curbing food adulteration during religious and cultural festivals.

The new framework establishes a standardised enforcement mechanism across Maharashtra, replacing the need for separate directions for individual festivals. It includes risk-based surveillance, inspections and enforcement measures before, during and after festivals.

"There are many upcoming festivals in India. This may also increase the rate of adulteration during this period. This affects the customers. According to the Food Safety Standards Authority Act, we can place special restrictions on items which are high-risk food. There will be a standing order for all festivals for the year. There will be no need to pass a separate order hereafter," ANI quoted Munde as saying.

What Does Mundhe's Food Safety Plan Cover?

Mundhe said demand for several food products typically rises sharply during festival periods, increasing the possibility of adulterated or unsafe products entering the market.

"The demand for food items like sweets, paneer, ghee, dry fruits, mutton, and chicken increases many times. This results in adulterated or unsafe products being more likely. In this background, a complete calendar has been prepared for the year," he added.

The FDA has identified high-risk food categories including milk and dairy products, meat, sweets, fasting foods, edible oil, fruits, dry fruits, gram flour, water and ice, bakery products, food sold through e-commerce and imported food.

The enforcement cycle is designed to begin before festivals and continue afterward. Officials will identify risk areas and prepare teams and laboratories, followed by inspections and checks on transportation, market surveillance and on-the-spot testing. Post-festival action will include laboratory follow-up, prosecution and disposal of seized food where required.

Festivals To Face Risk-Based Surveillance

Ganeshotsav, Navratri, Diwali, Eid, Christmas and New Year's Eve will fall under the first category. Makar Sankranti, Mahashivratri, Holi, Gudhipadwa, Ashadhi and Kartik Wari, the month of Shravan, Janmashtami, Kojagiri Poornima and Guru Nanak Jayanti will be placed in the second category.

Mundhe said the surveillance would be carried out in four phases. The plan includes advance mapping and team formation, checks on movement and transportation, inspections during festivals and legal action where violations are established. The FDA has also announced targeted checks of meat outlets, cold chains and slaughterhouses during Eid, while frying oil, dairy products, sweets, bakery products, water and ice will face additional scrutiny during relevant periods.
