Srinagar, November 5: Former Delhi Chief Secretary KK Sharma has been appointed as the new Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday. Sharma is a 1983 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre. He had also served as a Chief Secretary in Goa and Secretary Higher education in the ministry of human resources development, Government of India. The former IAS officer is the fourth advisor to the governor. After the appointment of 4th Advisor, Malik is likely to reshuffle the portfolios of his present three advisors to a lot some of the portfolios Sharma. Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Terrorism: Exists in the Mind and Has to Be Tackled at the Root

The other three advisors to Malik are B B Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khursheed Ganai. According to sources, He is likely to be allotted education, agriculture and other departments of the state. Sharma had played key role in implementing flagship projects of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi in the areas of education and health. The former IAS officer is a resident of Billawar area of Jammu.

In June, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir ended its alliance with Mehbooba Mufti-led People's Democratic Party (PDP) government sighting developmental issues, terrorism and radicalisation in the Valley. The BJP and the PDP had formed an alliance after the 2014 Jammu And Kashmir Assembly Elections. While the PDP had won 28 seats, the BJP had got 25. According to reports, the PDP was not happy with the Centre's decision to withdraw ceasefire in the valley.
