A shocking alleged scam has surfaced in Kolkata, where a man was reportedly lured through the dating app Bumble and extorted at a cafe in the Tollygunge area. According to the account, the victim matched with a woman identifying herself as “Sushmita” on Bumble. After chatting, she invited him to meet near Ranikuthi. Upon arrival, she allegedly took him to a place called “Cafe Couple Zone,” located inside a government housing complex at 131/43 NSC Bose Road in Tollygunge.

Once inside, the woman reportedly took charge of ordering, requesting hookah and coffee. Despite expressing dissatisfaction and changing orders, the situation began to feel suspicious as the café had no other customers, except a few local men present. Tinder Dating Scam in Mumbai: 10 Friends Conduct Sting Operation, Bust Fraud Operating at Heaven Terrace 72 Cafe in Andheri; 8 Arrested.

The woman reportedly disappeared during the confrontation, raising further suspicion about her involvement in the setup. The victim eventually paid the amount under pressure, fearing for his safety in an unfamiliar area.

The incident highlights a growing pattern of alleged “dating app scams,” where individuals are lured to isolated venues and coerced into paying exorbitant bills. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed this specific case, but similar incidents have been reported in metro cities.

People using dating apps are advised to exercise caution, avoid secluded meeting spots, and inform friends or family before meeting someone new.
