Kolkata, September 20: Durga Puja club associations are taking measures to protect their pandals from rains and also not spoil the experience of the people coming to their pandals. The shower in Kolkata over the last two days has left puddles in areas where major Durga Puja pandals are coming up, according to a Times of India report.

The weather department has further predicted that the city might continue to get rains till Mahalaya. Most organisers have started constructing planks from the main gate of the pandal to the roads, so that pandal hoppers don't have to step on to the puddles and get wet. Waterproof planks are being used and the organisers are also ready to sprinkle sand close to the exits if required. Some pandals will also have barricades to ensure that no one steps into the waterlogged or muddy areas. The organisers are struggling to finish the pandal work on time and working to ensure a great experience to the people during Durga Puja. Mahalaya will be celebrated on September 28, and the day thus marks the official countdown to Durga Puja. People are desperately hoping that rains don't act as a spoilsport during Durga puja and mar their celebration.
