Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will transfer the 39th instalment of the "Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana" to more than 1.25 crore eligible women across the state today, August 19. The state-level programme, which will be held in Maihar, will see a total disbursement of over INR 2,148 crore, providing significant financial relief to beneficiaries ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mohan Yadav said, "Today, I will transfer the 39th instalment of the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ into the accounts of eligible sisters from Maihar. Enhanced Assistance for Raksha Bandhan
In this cycle, the state government increased the payout to include a special festival gift. Beneficiaries will receive a total of INR 1,750 directly into their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The total amount comprises:
- Regular Monthly Assistance: INR 1,500 per beneficiary (Total disbursement: INR 1,835.46 crore).
- Special Raksha Bandhan Gift: INR 250 per beneficiary (Total disbursement: INR 312.83 crore).
Development Initiatives in Maihar
During the event in Maihar, CM Yadav will also prioritise regional infrastructure development. He will inaugurate and perform Bhoomi Poojan (groundbreaking ceremonies) for various development projects in the Maihar district valued at approximately INR 256 crore.
Scheme Background and Financial Commitment
Launched in June 2023, the Ladli Behna Yojana aims to promote women's economic independence and improve their household decision-making power. Since its inception, the government has transferred over INR 63,248 crore to beneficiary women through 39 instalments. To ensure the scheme's sustainability, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet recently approved a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,14,365 crore for its continued implementation from the 2026-27 fiscal year through 2030-31. For the current 2026-27 financial year alone, the government has earmarked Rs 23,882.81 crore to support the programme. Beneficiary Advisory
State officials have reminded beneficiaries to ensure their bank accounts are DBT-enabled and linked with their Aadhaar cards to avoid transaction failures. Women can verify their payment status by visiting the official Ladli Behna Yojana portal and selecting the "Application and Payment Status" tab.
