New Delhi, August 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to emerge as the single largest party in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, but it may fall short of the magic figure, an opinion poll of Times Now has claimed. According to the poll, the BJP is likely to win 227 seats in the Lok Sabha, which is 55 seats less than compared to its tally of 282 in the 2014 elections. The poll also claimed that the Congress would win 78 seats, increasing its tally from 44.

According to the poll, The BJP is likely to suffer a loss in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Bihar and Jharkhand. In UP, the party is expected to win on 49 seats; whereas, in 2014, BJP had won on 71 seats. Similarly, in Rajasthan, the party will suffer a loss of 10 seats, as it is predicted to win 15 seats, the poll findings have claimed.

In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujarat, the party is also expected to experience a loss of eight seats; whereas, in 2014, the ruling party had won 26 seats. In Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, too, the ruling party (BJP) is expected to witness a loss of two and four seats respectively.

On the other hand, the Congress may have major gains in Rajasthan and Gujarat where it failed to open its account in 2014. In Rajasthan, the party is expected to win 10 seats, whereas in Gujarat it is expected to win eight seats. In Bihar, the Congress is expected to double its tally to four seats.

The party may have marginal gains in Uttar Pradesh, whereas in Chhattisgarh the party is likely to win three seats as compared to one seat in the state in 2014.

The survey was conducted by a political research and communication agency called War Room strategies and Utopia Consulting. It was conducted over the last three weeks and covers 12,879 respondents across 156 parliamentary constituencies, located in 25 states.

According to a Times Now report, in terms of infrastructure, the Modi government got 3.7 stars out of 5. In the field of health care, the government received 3.3 stars, whereas, in employment, the BJP government got three stars.
