A young man from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has been repatriated to Pakistan after allegedly crossing the Line of Control (LoC) to meet a woman from Jammu and Kashmir whom he met on Snapchat. Officials said Zeeshan Mir, a resident of Muzaffarabad district in PoK, was handed over to Pakistan Army authorities at the Kaman Aman Setu crossing on July 4 after completing legal and security formalities.

According to officials, Mir allegedly crossed into Indian territory around a month before he was apprehended on May 31 by personnel of the Indian Army's 12 Grenadiers near the Silikote sector in Uri. Authorities said the alleged illegal crossing was prompted by an online relationship with Iram Majeed, a resident of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Govt Suspends 8 Officials After Schools Receive Books Allegedly Glorifying Separatists, Terrorists.

Part of a Series of Cross-Border Love Stories

The incident has drawn attention as another unusual cross-border love story involving individuals who met online. One of the most high-profile cases involved Pakistani national Seema Haider, who illegally entered India with her four children in 2023 to live with her partner, Sachin Meena, after the two met through the online game PUBG.

Seema was arrested after entering India but was later granted bail. She has since settled in Greater Noida with Sachin, and the couple now have two children together.

Another case that made headlines in 2023 involved 19-year-old Pakistani national Ikra Jivani, who illegally entered India via Nepal, crossing into Bihar through the Birgunj border, to be with her partner, Mulayam Singh Yadav, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. The two had met online while playing the mobile game Ludo and later got married before settling in Bengaluru. Authorities later traced the couple, after which Ikra was arrested and eventually repatriated to Pakistan.
