At least four people were killed and another was critically injured after their speeding car rammed into a stationary truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district early Thursday morning. The incident took place on National Highway 43, under the jurisdiction of the local police station.

According to preliminary police reports, the car was en route from Katni when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear side of a truck parked by the roadside. The impact of the collision was so severe that four occupants of the car died on the spot. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after receiving information from local commuters. First responders extracted the victims from the mangled remains of the car.
