Madhya Pradesh: Union Minister Prahlad Patel’s Son Prabal Booked in Attempt to Murder, Arrested

Narsinghpur, June 18: Madhya Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested Prabal Patel, son of Union Minister Prahlad Patel, on the charges of attempt to murder. Prabal's cousin Monu and others have also been arrested for allegedly abducting and severely beating up two youth in Narsinghpur district. According to a complaint by victims, Himanshu Rathore and Rahul Rajput, Prabal and Monu had assaulted them following a dispute. The victims were returning from a wedding on Monday night when they were stopped by Prabal, Monu and their friends in Bailaai village. The accused then took the duo to their friend Shivam Rai’s house and beat them up. When Rai's father, a home guard, tried to intervene, he was also thrashed.

An officer from Narsinghpur police station said that during the altercation Prabal allegedly fired a shot which hit Rathore in the hand. He even tried to fire at Rajput but missed the target. Those booked include Prabal, Monu, Ballu Vishwakarma, Durgesh, Rajesh Jharia, Saurabh Patel, Nilesh Sen, and Mohit Sen.

Prahlad Patel, BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from Damoh, is the union minister for Culture and Tourism. His brother BJP MLA Jalam Singh Patel has a number of criminal cases against him.
