In a disturbing incident from Patai village in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior wedding celebrations took a violent turn when guests allegedly attacked the bride, groom, and their family for refusing to provide alcohol, police confirmed. The clash occurred on Tuesday night, March 31, during Mahesh Jatav’s wedding and resulted in injuries to several family members, as well as theft of household items and money.

City Superintendent of Police Manish Yadav told reporters that tensions began when some neighbors demanded alcohol at the wedding. When the groom’s family declined to serve liquor, the situation escalated into a physical altercation. According to reports, the accused, identified as Manoj Jatav, Harnam, Bhim, and Naval Kishore Jatav, arrived at the wedding and demanded money from the groom to buy alcohol. When their demands were refused, they allegedly assaulted the groom, the bride, and several family members.

The groom’s mother described the incident to reporters, stating that the attack occurred soon after the bride arrived and rituals had begun. A formal complaint has been filed, and the Aron police have launched an investigation into the incident. City Superintendent Yadav emphasized the seriousness of the case, noting that incidents of violence over personal disputes at social events will be dealt with strictly under the law.
