Mumbai, December 17: The murder of Benet Rebello has shocked the city, where the 59-year-old musician was killed by his adopted daughter for sexually assaulting her. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the city crime branch is in the process of registering a case of rape against the deceased under the POCSO Act.

The report further mentions that after verifying the ID proof of the girl it was found out that she was just 17-years-old and not 19-years as was being reported earlier. The case came to light after one of the suitcases, stuffed with his body part was washed ashore Mahim beach on December 2, 2019. Rebello was a musician who lived in Vakola area and was killed by a girl who he had adopted close to 18 months ago. The girl was allegedly helped in the murder by her 16-year-old boyfriend. After striking him on his head, they sprayed pesticide on his face to ensure he is dead. His body was then chopped into small pieces and stuffed inside various suitcases. Every night, the girl and the boy would take an autorickshaw and throw the suitcase in the Mithi river.

In an earlier report, she had said that her 16-year-old boyfriend 'poisoned her mind' into killing her father. The girl had met the boy a few months back, and he told her not to silently bear the sexual harassment.
