Silchar, May 25: A tragic incident occurred on Friday in the Lowarbond area of Cachar district in Assam leading to the untimely death of Amar Jyoti Taid, a Constable with the Second Assam Commando Battalion. Taid, who was charging his mobile phone and playing a video game at his camp, was electrocuted due to a short circuit, and his cell phone caught fire and exploded in Hailakandi.

According to a report in TOI, the jawan, identified as Amar Jyoti Taid, was posted at the Hailakandi-based 2nd commando battalion in Assam. He hailed from Laibil in Demow area of Sivasagar district. The incident took place on Friday morning when Amar was charging his phone. Unfortunately, a short circuit occurred, resulting in his untimely demise. His colleagues heard his screams and found him in critical condition. In a similar incident in Rajasthan’s Banswara, a 44-year-old man died on the spot after his mobile phone exploded while he was charging it.

The victim, identified as Jagmal, 44, was charging his  smartphone when the explosion occurred. The blast was so powerful that it blew up the mobile phone, the charger, and the electrical socket. The entire board fell on Jagmal’s chest, burning his skin and causing his flesh to come out.

His family members rushed him to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Jagmal’s nephew, Motilal, said that Jagmal was charging his phone in his room while his father Kanji, mother, wife Kammo, and two sons were sitting under a tree outside the house. The blast occurred as soon as Jagmal plugged in the phone.
