According to statements from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the incident occurred inside Room No. 43, located in the densely populated Rajiv Gandhi Nagar locality of Dharavi. Nearby residents acted quickly to douse the fire using localized methods before the Mumbai Fire Brigade team arrived on site. Firefighters subsequently inspected the premises to secure the gas cylinder and ensure there was no risk of reigniting or further gas leakage.
All four injured individuals suffered burn injuries during the outbreak and were immediately transported to the nearby civic-run Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion Hospital) for treatment.
