Mumbai Mega Block on July 12: Will Local Train Services Be Affected?
Central Railway will carry out a mega block on Mumbai's Main and Harbour suburban lines on Sunday, July 13, affecting several local train services. Harbour Line trains on key routes will remain suspended, while Main Line slow services will be diverted. Special trains between Panvel and Kurla will run every 20 minutes, and Harbour Line passengers can use Main Line and Western Railway services.
Central Railway will undertake a mega block on its Main and Harbour suburban corridors on Sunday, July 13, to carry out essential engineering and maintenance works. The block will affect train operations on the Main Line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar, and on the Harbour Line between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra.
To reduce inconvenience, the railway will operate special train services between Panvel and Kurla during the block period and allow Harbour Line passengers to travel on Main Line and Western Railway services between 10 am and 6 pm. Mumbai Main Line Mega Block Timings
According to Central Railway, the mega block on the CSMT–Vidyavihar UP and DOWN slow lines will remain in effect from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm.
During this period:
- DOWN slow services departing CSMT between 10.48 am and 3.45 pm will be diverted to the DOWN fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar.
- These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla before returning to the slow line at Vidyavihar.
- UP slow services leaving Ghatkopar between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will operate on the UP fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT.
- These services will stop at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla.
Harbour Line Services Suspended
The Harbour Line will witness a complete suspension of services on affected sections during the block.
The DOWN corridor between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra will remain blocked from 11.40 am to 4.40 pm, while the UP corridor between Chunabhatti/Bandra and CSMT will remain blocked from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.
As a result:
- Harbour Line trains towards Vashi, Belapur and Panvel departing CSMT between 11.16 am and 4.47 pm will remain suspended.
- Services towards Bandra and Goregaon leaving CSMT between 10.48 am and 4.43 pm will also be cancelled.
- In the UP direction, trains for CSMT departing Panvel, Belapur and Vashi between 9.53 am and 3.20 pm will remain suspended.
- Services departing Goregaon and Bandra between 10.45 am and 5.13 pm will also remain cancelled.
Special Train Services for Passengers
To minimise disruption, Central Railway will operate special services between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No. 8) at an interval of every 20 minutes throughout the block period. Passengers travelling on the Harbour Line will also be permitted to use Main Line and Western Railway services between 10 am and 6 pm. Central Railway said the maintenance work is essential for infrastructure upkeep and operational safety. The railway has appealed to commuters to cooperate and plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience during the scheduled maintenance.
