Mumbai Metro Line 3 Extends Hours: MMRCL Announces Midnight Services for Ganeshotsav Celebrations

MMRCL has extended Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) hours till midnight from September 14 to 25 for Ganeshotsav festival, allowing devotees to travel safely, visit pandals, and carry idols up to 18 inches while avoiding traffic. MMRCL has invited residents to utilise the extended metro services to support safe and seamless travel throughout the festival.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has extended operating hours for the Aqua Line, or Mumbai Metro Line 3, to accommodate devotees during the Ganeshotsav celebrations. The extended services will remain active from September 14 to September 25.

Under normal operating schedules, the last trains from terminal stations Cuffe Parade and Aarey JVLR depart at 10:30 PM. The extension is designed to provide festivalgoers additional time to visit Ganesh pandals and commute home safely. The Aqua Line offers direct connectivity to major Ganeshotsav locations near Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Worli, Mahalaxmi, and Girgaon, helping commuters bypass heavy road traffic.

Passenger Guidelines for Ganesh Idols

To ensure convenience and safety across the transit network, passengers will be permitted to carry Ganesh idols up to 18 inches (45 cm) in height on the Aqua Line. Commuters transporting idols are required to adhere to prescribed safety guidelines. Another Green Milestone for Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line

Meanwhile, in a post on  X (formerly Twitter), MMRCL said that they received Green Building Certification for five additional stations on the Aqua Line (Mumbai Metro Line-3) from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). These stations are Jagannath Shankarshet Metro (Mumbai Central). Mahalaxmi Metro, Science Centre Metro, Acharya Atre Chowk Metro and Worli Metro.
