Torrential monsoon rains continued to batter Mumbai and its neighbouring districts on Monday, causing widespread waterlogging and disrupting public transport systems across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). In Nalasopara and parts of the Palghar district, heavy downpours overnight completely submerged railway tracks and key arterial roads. Commuters were forced to wade through knee-deep water as local transport ground to a near-halt, highlighting the severe impact of the active monsoon spell on the region's infrastructure.

The intense rainfall has caused major delays on the city's lifeline, the suburban railway network. On the Western Railway line, local trains are operating 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule due to significant water accumulation on tracks between the Vasai Road and Virar sections. Meanwhile, Central Railway operations have faced steeper challenges; severe landslides in the Karjat-Lonavala Bhor Ghat section forced the suspension of long-distance train services between Mumbai and Pune, alongside a complete halt of suburban services on the Karjat-Khopoli route. The impact has extended heavily onto road networks as well. Authorities have temporarily suspended all vehicular traffic in both directions on the crucial Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the old Mumbai-Pune highway following multiple landslides, flooding, and damage to power lines. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has actively issued advisories asking citizens to postpone travel between the two cities until clearance operations are completed.

In response to the deteriorating weather conditions, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with neighbouring municipal bodies declared a mandatory holiday on Monday for all government, private, and civic-run schools and colleges. The University of Mumbai similarly postponed all examinations scheduled for the day to ensure student safety. According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai city recorded over 265 mm of rainfall, while the suburbs registered 227 mm within a 24-hour window leading into the morning. The IMD has maintained an active 'Orange' alert for the region, forecasting continued heavy to very heavy regional spells accompanied by gusty winds touching up to 50–60 kmph over the next 48 hours. Residents are strictly advised to stay indoors and step out only for essential needs.
