Mumbai, June 11: In a shocking development, Mumbai's first monsoon showers led to twin tragedies in the city. Two kids were electrocuted to death in Kandivali on Monday night. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell identified them as Rushabh Tiwari and Tushar Jha, both resident of Poisar. An auto driver and a bakery worker died and a woman passenger was severely injured after a speeding dumper skidded and crashed to rickshaw when a bus ahead of it applied brakes suddenly on Amar Mahal flyover of Chembur on Sunday night, reported Times of India. The surprise showers on Monday affected the visibility in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport due to which some flight operations were suspended while some were diverted. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunder, lightning and gusty winds at few places in Mumbai on Tuesday. The city will also be affected by Cyclone Vayu. The moderate rainfall is expected on Wednesday as Cyclone Vayu passes by.

"Mumbai will also be affected by Vayu Cyclone but not severely. Cyclone is expected to cross from 250-300 km away, parallel to the Mumbai coast tomorrow," Deputy Director General of Meteorology said. “The weather system is likely to move north-northwest, towards the Maharashtra and Goa coast, paving way for rain and thundershowers along both south and north Konkan, including Mumbai,” he added.
