A number of celebrities in the above-mentioned list have already marked their angst against the Centre-ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in view of the proposed nationwide National Register of Citizenship (NRC) exercise. Kashyap and Sinha have minced no words in accusing the central government of targeting the minorities through their citizenship project.

The violence at JNU, which triggered the fresh round of protests across the nation, was reported on Sunday evening when nearly 50 masked goons barged inside the campus. They attacked several students and faculty members, including the University's students' union chief Aishe Ghose. Over 40 people were left injured in the violence, including 12 who sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
