The GSB Seva Mandal at King’s Circle in Matunga unveiled the first look of its iconic Lord Maha Ganapati idol. Known widely as one of India's richest Ganesh mandals, the organization presented the idol adorned with more than 66 kg of gold, 335 kg of silver, and precious gemstones donated by sevadars and devotees over decades.

The unveiling ceremony, marked by the traditional Virat Darshan, officially kicks off preparations for the mandal's 72nd Ganeshotsav celebration. Unlike the city's standard 10-day festivities, the King’s Circle GSB Seva Mandal operates its public darshan on a concentrated 5-day schedule, which will run from September 14 through September 18. Lalbaugcha Raja First Look Unveiled in Mumbai Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 (Videos).

Despite the high total value of its embellishments, organizers emphasized that the core idol remains strictly eco-friendly, molded entirely out of natural clay (shadu mati) and painted with natural pigments to protect local water bodies during immersion.

To safeguard the immense financial value of the ornaments and account for public safety, the GSB Seva Mandal secured an all-inclusive insurance cover exceeding ₹703 crore for the five-day period. The comprehensive policy provides coverage against fire, natural disasters, personal accidents for volunteers and devotees, and loss or damage to gold and silver assets. Security infrastructure at the GSB Sports Club Ground venue includes a high-definition network of over 100 CCTV and PTZ cameras integrated into a real-time central monitoring command room. Mumbai Cha Raja 2026 1st Look Postponed; New Date and Time To Be Announced.

Alongside strict security, the mandal maintains a large-scale charitable operation. Organizers state that the daily annadaan seva (food donation service) will provide fresh prasad meals to approximately 40,000 visitors every day, serving upwards of two lakh devotees over the course of the festival. Traditional Vedic priests are scheduled to perform over one lakh individual poojas, rituals, and havans during the event.
