Muzaffarnagar: Married Man Elopes With Transgender, Wife Files Triple Talaq Complaint
A Muzaffarnagar woman petitioned the SSP for justice after her husband allegedly subjected her to 'Triple Talaq', physical abuse, and dowry harassment, while reportedly absconding with a Transgender individual named Zoya. The woman also claimed to possess video evidence of her husband's affair with the transgender person.
A woman in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, has approached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) seeking legal action against her husband and in-laws after she was allegedly subjected to "Triple Talaq" following years of dowry harassment and domestic abuse. She also claimed that her husband left her and their children and fled with a transgender person, with whom he was in a relationship before marriage.
Dowry Harassment and Allegations
The complainant, a native of Shamli district, was married six years ago to Istikhar Baig (Istikhar Beg ), a resident of the Aryapuri area under the Civil Lines police station in Muzaffarnagar, reports Navbharat Times. According to her formal complaint, despite her family providing adequate gifts at the time of the wedding, her in-laws remained dissatisfied and continuously demanded additional dowry. The woman, who shares three children with her husband, further alleged that Istikhar maintained an illicit relationship with a transgender individual named Zoya, claiming to possess video evidence of the affair. She stated that her husband repeatedly brought the individual into their home and assaulted her whenever she raised objections.
Assault and 'Triple Talaq' Allegations
The situation escalated on June 2, when the woman alleged that her husband, brother-in-law, and other family members assaulted her with the intent to kill, attempting to strangle her with her dupatta until she lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, she informed her family, prompting her maternal uncle to visit her in-laws' residence to resolve the dispute. The victim is currently staying at her maternal uncle's residence on Mimlana Road with her three children. Police authorities are reviewing her complaint, as the accused husband has reportedly absconded from the area alongside the transgender individual.
