How The Woman Was Approached
As per the FIR, the woman completed her B Com from a college in Nagpur and later got married to a man engaged in selling Ayurvedic medicines. While looking for job opportunities in December last year, she came across an Instagram page of a company called We Migrate, which had its office in Phoenix Marketcity in Viman Nagar, Pune. Who Is Kavan Kumar Patel? Fake Documents And Promises Of High Salaries
The FIR stated that some staffers at the office claimed the company was registered with the Ministry of External Affairs. They showed her documents such as a "licence", "student temporary resident card (TRC)" and "work permit", and made her speak over the phone with three people who claimed to be working in Portugal, Spain and Netherlands on a monthly salary of INR 1.5 lakh. Dhaval Amratbhai Patel Case: Indian-Origin Man Living Illegally in US Assaults Man With Baseball Bat After Argument; Arrested.

She was told she could call her husband to join her after three months on a "dependent visa," the FIR stated.

As per the FIR, the woman submitted her visa documents at VSF Global in Hyderabad on March 5 and received a "multiple entry visa" for France on March 14 by courier. On March 17, she was asked to book an air ticket from Mumbai to Spain.
On May 21, she left for Spain, where a man picked her up and took her to Portugal the next day. She was made to stay at a Punjabi man's house, where she alleged two persons snatched her passport and returned it only after she paid them 400 Euros.
Allegedly Sold For Prostitution In Odemira
She was then taken to Odemira in Portugal for what she was told was "college admission and student TRC" along with a cashier job at a supermarket. She was kept at a house along with two other women from Rajasthan and Haryana.
Instead of a supermarket job, the woman alleged she was sold to a beer shop in Odemira and asked to meet people for p*rn and s*x work as per the instructions of her "master," the FIR stated.
Escape And Return To India
The FIR stated that the woman called her husband over the phone, telling him they had been cheated. She managed to leave Odemira and reach Madrid in Spain by bus on May 29. From there, she travelled to Doha, and then to Delhi by flight on May 31, police said.
Her husband received her in Delhi, and the couple returned to Nagpur. However, she continued to receive emails seeking her passport and demanding a further Rs 3 lakh for another overseas job.
FIR Registered Against Eight Persons
The woman later travelled to Pune with her husband and filed a complaint with the city police. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered against eight persons, four based in Pune and four in Portugal, under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to wrongful confinement, trafficking of persons, extortion, criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.
The investigation has been handed over to the crime branch. Senior police inspector Santosh Sonawane of the crime branch said, "We have launched a probe into this case. As per the complaint, offence has taken place in India and abroad. Verification of the details mentioned in the complaint is being done and further action will be taken."
