New Delhi, December 20: While speaking at the ASSOCHAM annual conference, PM Narendra Modi spoke about how the BJP government has helped to stabilise the economy. According to an ANI tweet, he said, "Five-six years back our economy was heading towards disaster, our government has not only stabilised it but also made efforts to bring discipline to it. We have paid attention to fulfilling the decades-old demands of the industry."

Talking in reference to India moving 14 ranks up in the ease of doing business rankings, PM Modi said, "You climb up the 'Ease of Doing Business' rankings when you work hard day and night, when you bring about a change in the policies, starting from the ground." He further expressed how the government is working to bring transparency, efficiency and accountability by moving towards faceless tax administration.

Talking about how FDI inflow has increased in India in the last few years, Modi explained, "I have two meanings of FDI. One popularly known as Foreign Direct Investment and the other I call is 'First Develop India" PM Narendra Modi's statements come at a time when India is reportedly facing an economic slowdown and it is being witnessed across all major industries. From hiring freeze to layoffs and plants being shut, the economic scenario is in a dismal state.
