Nashik: Woman Killed by Estranged Live-In Partner in Maharashtra; Accused Found Dead Hours Later

A 21-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her estranged live-in partner in Maharashtra's Nashik city on Friday night. Hours after the attack, the accused was found hanging from a tree in what police believe was a case of suicide. The incident took place in the Indiranagar area and is under investigation, as reported by TOI. Police identified the victim as Vaishnavi Aware, 21, and the accused as Sahil Lavhare, 26. Both were natives of Amravati district.

According to investigators, the two had previously been in a live-in relationship. Argument Turned Fatal

Police said Lavhare met Aware on Friday night, and an argument broke out between them. The confrontation allegedly escalated, with Lavhare attacking her with a knife. As the woman called for help, he allegedly slit her throat before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. Local residents alerted emergency services, and Aware was rushed to Nashik Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Accused Found Hanging

Following the attack, senior officers from the Ambad division and the Indiranagar police launched a search operation for the accused. During the early hours of Saturday, police found Lavhare hanging from a tree near the Indiranagar jogging track. Victim Was Engaged to Marry

Police said Aware was engaged to a man from Jalgaon who was employed in Nashik. Investigators said she had informed her fiancé that Lavhare had allegedly been harassing her and that he was scheduled to meet her on the night of the incident.

At the time the report was published, the Indiranagar police were in the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) based on a complaint filed by the victim's fiancé. Police are examining the sequence of events leading to the killing, including the nature of the interactions between the victim and the accused before the incident. Authorities are also gathering statements from witnesses and reviewing available evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
