Two college students were seriously injured on Wednesday after being electrocuted by a high-voltage current that spread through accumulated rainwater under the LP Bridge in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred during a spell of continuous heavy rainfall that has been lashing Mumbai and its surrounding metropolitan sub-regions.

According to preliminary reports, an electrical short circuit occurred in overhead wiring near a Bikaner Sweets restaurant located underneath the bridge. The live current rapidly discharged into the waterlogged street below. Two female college students who were wading through the area unknowingly walked into the energized water and received a severe electric shock.
