CCTV Footage of Murder Goes Viral
Video from cameras at the shop and nearby shows Singh seated at the counter talking to another person. The car arrives, the masked men alight, and one opens fire inside the shop. The other person present hides. Singh attempts to confront the first attacker before being shot and falling. The second man also fires. The pair try to shoot again, but the weapon appears to fail, after which they leave calmly in the car. Police are examining this and other nearby CCTV footage to identify the attackers.
Family Background and Alleged Motive
Singh was the only son of farmer Nishan Singh. His sister works in Canada. About a year earlier, he entered a love marriage with Kamal Kaur, a woman in her 40s whose first husband had died roughly three years earlier. She has two adult sons, Avdeep and another, who work in New Zealand. According to Singh’s father, the stepsons opposed their mother’s remarriage. Avdeep had returned from New Zealand about five days before the killing. Nishan Singh has named Avdeep, his brother, a relative named Rajandeep (described as the aunt’s son), and others in a complaint to police, alleging a conspiracy linked to the marriage and related property matters, reports ETV Bharat. Additional SP Anurag Singh has stated that Avdeep, along with Rajandeep, is accused in the killing and that both remain absconding. Police are searching for them and examining all angles, including possible hired killers. Some reports also note earlier personal history involving Singh, including a previous marriage that ended with his first wife’s death and related legal cases, though these details remain under investigation in connection with the current case. Police continue to review CCTV evidence and statements. No arrests have been reported as of Sunday afternoon. The investigation remains active.
