New Delhi, January 4: In a bid to enhance travel experience and ensure hassle-free travel to all its passengers, the Indian Railways will soon add a new train to its fleet of Rajdhani Expresses. According to reports, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the new train will ply on the Delhi-Mumbai service and would cover stations including Kalyan, Nashik and Khandwa in the Central Railway zone in Maharashtra. The new Rajdhani train will be the first such train passing through the central zone, covering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Kalyan, Nashik, Jalgaon, Khandwa, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra, and Hazrat Nizamuddin. Currently, there are two Rajdhani trains running between Delhi-Mumbai.

With the commencement of services, this will be the first Rajdhani in the state which will take a detour via Madhya Pradesh, instead of Gujarat. The current fleet size of Rajdhani trains on the railway network is 23, with two catering to Mumbai. Goyal further added saying that the Railway Ministry will soon flag off another Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani, which will be the first Rajdhani to pass through Central Railways zone. Indian Railways has Good News for Waiting List Passengers! Currently, two Rajdhani trains, one from Mumbai Central and the other from Bandra Terminus, run on Western Railway. The Rajdhani, which operates from Mumbai Central, caters to cities in Gujarat like Surat and Vadodara. The Rajdhani from CSMT will benefit passengers from Kalyan and Nashik too.

The running time of Rajdhani services has come down due to the improvement in the signalling system. According to a PTI report, a total of 350 Mails/Expresses and 74 Superfast trains, including Rajdhanis and Shatabdis, are now reaching destinations 5-25 minutes before time because of removal of bottlenecks and rationalisation of Timetable, said a senior Railway Ministry official. Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express Gets a Makeover With Aircraft-Like Interiors Under ‘Operation Swarn’: See Pics.

In April last year, there were reports that the railways will install an advanced, multi-level fire detection and response system in premier trains like Rajdhani Expresses and the Tejas Express. After the new system is installed, a train will stop in case of a fire incident as brakes will be applied automatically if the smoke rises beyond a certain level, followed by announcement and hooter sirens in the affected coach.
