Mumbai, January 4: Police in Maharashtra's Palghar district have arrested a 25-year-old barber for allegedly playing "anti-national" songs at his salon in the Nalasopara area. The arrest, which took place on Saturday, January 3, followed a formal complaint from a resident who claimed the music was offensive and threatened communal harmony.

The suspect, identified as Sahid Ali, allegedly played songs on a loudspeaker that contained lyrics perceived as being against the interests of the country. According to police officials, the music was being played during business hours, attracting the attention of passersby and neighbors. Following the complaint, a team from the Tulinj police station arrived at the shop and took the individual into custody for further questioning. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Directs Fresh Security and Development Push, Says State Nearing Maoist-Free Status.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police have seized the mobile phone and the sound system used to play the music. Technical experts are currently reviewing the playlist and the source of the audio files to determine if the content was part of a wider distribution network or an isolated incident.

The police are also looking into whether the suspect had any previous record of similar activities. The police have appealed to the public to refrain from circulating any provocative content that could disturb the social fabric of the district.
