According to officials, the roof sheet that fell was part of the old station structure being removed as part of the platform extension project.

The falling roof sheet also caused a supporting overhead equipment (OHE) pillar to collapse. An official said: "During the systematic removal of an old roof structure, a portion of the dismantled sheet came in contact with a non-operational (dead) OHE mast within the designated work area. The occurrence was confined entirely to the construction zone during the course of the planned dismantling activity."
No Injuries or Impact on Train Services
Railway officials confirmed that no injuries were reported. They also stated that train services at Panvel station continued as normal and the incident did not affect railway operations. MRVC described the event as a minor construction-related mishap that occurred within the work zone.
Officials said safety measures have been implemented at the site while the platform extension work continues. Authorities assured passengers that all necessary precautions are being followed during the execution of the project.
