New Delhi, August 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Manorama News Conclave on Friday via video conferencing. The Conclave set to debate on the theme of New India began in Kochi. PM Modi, while addressing the audience said, "This is a new India where surnames of the youth don't matter, what matters is their ability to make their own name. New India isn't about the voice of select few but each Indian. This is an India where corruption is never an option, whoever the person is. Competence is the norm."

PM pointed out that, "India is perhaps the only country in the world with so many languages. In a way, it is a force multiplier. But language has also been exploited by selfish interests to create artificial walls in the country to divide." Fit India Movement Launched by PM Narendra Modi on National Sports Day 2019

He suggested using the power of language to unite and urged the media to play a role in bringing people speaking different languages closer. He added, "We can simply start with publishing one word in 10-12 different languages spoken across the country. In a year, a person can learn over 300 new words in different languages. Imagine a group in Haryana learning Malayalam and a group in Karnataka learning Bengali! All big distances were covered only after taking the first step, can we take the first step?"

PM elaborated that such things have started taking place which was earlier deemed as impossible. He said, "In a state like Haryana, it was not thinkable that recruitment for government jobs could be done transparently. But, now people are talking about the transparent manner in which recruitments took place. It is common to see people using Wi-Fi facilities in railway stations. The system is the same, the people are the same yet, massive changes have taken place on the ground."

An official release said the conclave is being held in Kochi and organised by Malayala Manorama Company Limited.
